Over the past century, the Club has hosted some of the country’s most celebrated thinkers, artists, and professionals. It’s a private space, but not a secret one. A vibrant community with a deep public legacy in the arts, letters, and civic life. Yet while the Club’s in-person experience remained compelling, its digital presence no longer reflected its significance.
We partnered with the UCT team to help change that. Our mandate: create a website that honours the Club’s long history while positioning it for a bold and inclusive future.
We began with strategy, mapping out a new site structure that reflects how different audiences navigate and connect with the Club. From curious prospective members to long-time patrons booking a dinner or cultural event, each journey was thoughtfully considered. With clarity and elegance as our guide, we built a flexible architecture that ensures every piece of content—from event listings to venue details—has a natural place and purpose.
Design-wise, we embraced the Club’s unique blend of tradition and modernity. Classic typography and editorial layouts echo the academic and artistic roots of the space, while rich photography and ambient video capture the mood and material beauty of the clubhouse itself. Subtle interactions and transitions, never flashy and always intentional, add polish and movement to the experience.
Under the hood, we delivered a performant, accessible, and mobile-optimised platform built for easy maintenance by the Club’s internal team. Content management is intuitive, and future integrations from CRM to booking systems have been thoughtfully planned for.
The result is a platform that does more than deliver information, it reflects identity. A digital home that invites both discovery and belonging. A fitting next chapter for a club that has always been more than the sum of its parts.
